Mark your calendars. Our annual Dawn 'Til Dusk Challenge returns on 5th OCTOBER 2019! For one day, we will have a continuous relay, starting as the sun comes up over the cites of Leeds and London.... until the sun goes down. Relayers (is that even a word... it is now!) will circle the courses at Roundhay Park (Leeds) and Highbury Fields (London).
Bring yourself. Bring your family. Bring your friends!
There's no set distance. You just need to help us keep the baton moving. You can choose either a 30 minute slot (£10) or 60 minute slot (£15).You can walk, run, skip or jog.
Even if you can't make it to Leeds or London, you can support us in two different ways. You can sign up as a virtual runner, where ever you are in the world or you can make a donation via our Go Fund Me page. How FINTASTIC is that!
So why are we doing this? Our vision is to have a Mini Mermaid and Young Triton programme in every primary school across the UK. The relays raise funds to help us activate our programme in more schools and community centres, especially in areas of need.
Why is this so important? Loads of research came out over the past year connecting physical activity with our overall well-being. At the same time, children (and in particular girls) are dropping out of PE and sports at a much younger age (9), citing a lack of confidence. We work with girls and boys to create safe, judgement-free environments where first and foremost, children simply have a ton of fun moving their bodies. We complement that with other activities to strengthen their resilience, belief in their worth, their value and their voice.
All you have to do is choose a location, choose a time slot and come and join in the fun!
